Vilnius office outperforms other WWF-certified green offices
At the Lithuanian branch of our bank, we focus on adopting more sustainable habits, reducing energy consumption, conserving resources, carefully selecting suppliers, and prioritising environmentally friendly work and travel practices. As we are located in a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) certified green office, we assess our progress annually to evaluate how well we are implementing eco-friendly processes. Over the past year, our overall score increased by 5%, reaching 72.6 points.
An impressive 93% of our bank's employees now sort waste, recycle unnecessary electronic equipment, and choose reusable cups over disposable ones. In this category, we surpass the green office teams in the financial sector (91%) as well as all WWF-certified green offices (89%).
According to Raminta Vileniskiene, Culture and Communications Manager at OP Corporate Bank's Lithuanian branch, sustainability is an ongoing journey. "Our team’s positive attitude towards sustainability has strengthened over the past year, particularly in terms of supporting each other in adopting more sustainable work practices and taking pride in working in an environment where conservation truly matters. In this respect, we lead among other financial sector green offices and green offices worldwide: 53% in our office, 43% in other financial sector offices, and 48% across all green offices."
Under the OP Financial Group’s Sustainability Programme, we are committed to achieving CO2 neutrality in scopes 1 and 2 by 2025. By 2030, we aim to reduce corporate loan portfolio emissions by 25% (compared to 2022 levels). By 2050, we aspire to ensure that all investment funds and corporate loan portfolios are CO2 neutral.
These are significant and ambitious goals, achievable as part of Finland's largest financial group, by helping our clients successfully transition to more environmentally friendly business models.
